REMAIN INDOORS (free) entertainment selection for those after something to do.


So the present global situation isn't the best and there's a lot of uncertainty going round. What I've decided to do is compile a list of the free entertainment options out there to hopefully help people REMAIN INDOORS to try and help with the situation. I'll try to keep this updated each week until things settle down so the things listed are just the still existing deals.

  • Bridge Constructor the Walking Dead is about making bridges in the world of The Walking Dead presumably made in such a way you help the living and hinder the dead. It's free on Epic Game store until the 15th.
  • Ironcast is a match 3 Steampunk mech combat RPG. It's free on Epic Game store until the 15th.
  • Project Hunter is an free Stealth game on steam that sees you playing as an alien hunting down humans and acquiring new abilities as you progress
  • Terra Firma is a free early access game about creating your own world with simulated plate tectonics and erosion mechanics. It's Free on Steam
  • Last Resort is a co-op FPS shooter that pits you and if you want your friends against alien hordes and comes from students at Breda University. It's Free on Steam
  • SCP: Labrat is an early access VR horror game on steam that says it's compatible with HTC and Oculus Rift headsets. It's free on Steam.
  • Snout is a game combining breakout and snake into one game. It's free on Steam
  • Til Nord is a single player snowmobile racing game. It's free on Steam
  • Suspicious Downpour is a short single player comedy horror game. It's free on Steam
  • Muck is a roguelite survival crafting game. It's free on Steam


Films & TV

  • (UK only I think) Rakuten TV streaming service has 100 or so films now free to stream. Plus kids content and is picking 1 normally paid film to be free to stream each week which they'll switch out. This month it also has biblical epic Noah and action Sci-Fi film In Time  along with XIII the conspiracy, indie horror film The Void  . Also still avalaible is  horror movie Inanimate a spiritual sequel to John Carpenter's The Thing. Other thinsg people may like include Andromeda the Sci-Fi series based on plans by the late Gene RodenberryMutant X the Sci-Fi Xmen like action show; Brazil the esoteric Sci-Fi film;  Deep Space is a Star Trek inspired Sci-Fi film that actually fits nicely into Trek cannon and for the small budget it's better than at least 2 of the 3 most recent Star Trek films. Shadow Walkers a Sci-Fi thriller about past echos and the present world colliding.

Rather than me try to list them as they change regularly Bookbub will send you a tailored list based on your preferences of free Ebooks (and audio books) and heavily discounted ones for Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books and Google Play store books in the UK and in the USA that also includes Barnes and Noble Nook books.

  • Gwent is still going the free to play card game loosely based on the one found in Witcher 3
  • The Witcher 1 enhanced edition is free along with a free card Keg for Gwent too
  • The stay at home and play some games pack from GOG has 27 games for free (including the already mentioned Gwent) which seems to include point and click games a retro FPS title and at a platformer or two alongside RPGs and a tower defence game.
  • Postal Classic and Uncut is anarchic isometric shooter that's free for a short time.
  • Samorost 1 by the point and click adventure game by Amanita Deign is free

Steam: 

VR

  • SCP: Labrat is an early acces VR horror game on steam that says it's compatible with HTC and Oculus Rift headsets

  • Secret Hitler the strategy party game can be played online for free
  • Cards Against Humanity the card game for terrible people can be played online for free
  • Developer Bootdisk Revolution has a collection of some free games which includes some of his previous paid games that were on Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace. I'd say Frequency and Plucky's 3D advenutre are well worth a try. 
  • Sidequest is presently an initiative running to help teach people how to make their own video games with a different challenge every 2 weeks, worksheets for students and online tutorial videos and livestreams from experts

Mobile gaming

Android:

  • Friday the 13th Killer Puzzle is a free to play (contains ads) block slider game, you won't be able to get all the weapons or play all the episodes free but there's ~8 hours worth of puzzles free plus a daily puzzle too.
  • Gwent is also free to play on mobile.
  • Space Team is a Free to Play (offers purchasable skins) co-operative party game for 2-8 players (each player requires an android device to play)

  • Among Us the insanely popular social deduction game is free as an ad supported version on Android and has been for while but I didn't know until now
