I've watched the games industry for a while. I've watched things rise and fall and various trends and talks emerge.
A while ago there was a push to say "Everything is political" which in reality seemed to be less talking politics from a position of attempting not to pass judgement and more a partisan push to label some content good or bad.
Other gaming sites rose and some changed their content with the idea of being non political. While I can see the merit in said sites I do find deeper analysis of video games to be something enjoyable and do believe that it can bring more to the medium, the problem with that is said analysis often brings up politics. Meanwhile the sites claiming that everything is political do not do analysis of games as anything other than a surface level reading of it it agrees with their political beliefs enough and praising or condemning based on that.
What I created this blog to do is to try and hold true to the ideals of criticism outlined either by either Oscar Wilde or Charles Dickens in their essays on the nature of criticism (I forget which of them it was). They suggested the true goal of a critic should be to be able to identify and analyse the meaning in pieces while also being able to say how well the piece was executed and judging the piece upon execution, not merely agreement with the politics there in.
However I don't merely wish to do fart sniffing critic stuff I do also want to do stupid fart jokes too and bring back a sense of chaos. I am but one person here so this site is my weird vision of mixing content.
To me this blog is me moving on to do more content as with my previous blog I felt restricted to just doing reviews and just of video games. I also felt with the death of the XBLIG most of the content there was not relevant anymore to most people. Entertainment Nasty is my next step and hopefully an evolution of my content that will confuse, offend and maybe in a few cases bring joy to people with content about likely mostly gaming but other stuff that catches my fancy too.
