ESA to release free VR title for journalists missing the E3 experience.

So with E3 beeing cancelled by the Entertainment Software Association this year, to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, the ESA have decided to step up and release a totally Free VR game on all major VR game stores to help make up for disappointment many will feel over the lack of an E3 this year.

According to ESA spokesperson Olaf Prilo their new VR title will replicate the quintessential E3 experience many have come to love over years of attending the convention updated to fit with modern ideas and integrating concepts based on what they had hoped to include in the 2020 E3 convention.

It will allow everyone to get the true E3 experience as they wait in queues for up to 2 hours to try the latest games. According to ESA press releases they didn't actually feel the need to include any kind of playable demos for any of the titles you can choose to queue for. Though you can collect virtual swag from each of the stands which will be sellable on the Steam community marketplace. Though releases on the Playstation store, Epic Game Store, Oculus store and GOG are also planned each giving their own unique digital goodies such as wallpapers and polyphonic ringtones.

"While in the queue players will get to look round and the sights and wonder of what E3 has to offer. Also we're adding in our intended queuetertainment changes so everyone can see the wonder we had planned for 2020"

 said Olaf Prilo.

Such queuetertainment features will include:

• Watching other players open virtual lootboxes to collect their swag
• Playing virtual roulette with special in game only currency (obtainable in game or by purchasing in bundle packs)
• A system set up to stream live twitch streams onto VR screens so you can watch others play games to pass the time.
• Exactly 2 15 minute recorded dance shows which will repeat regularly.

The ESA is pitching this title as a way for journalists feeling down at the prospect of missing "the games industry equivalent of Christmas" to feel they're not missing out on the event this year and to give them a feeling of hope in these dark times. While the game has no multiplayer functionality the ESA hopes via the use of virtual people in the queues it will also help those in social isolation to feel a bit less isolated as they stand in the long queues for various company booths. The game will include NPC chatter in game as simulated members of the gaming press can be overheard talking about how awful gamers are, how hard they found the latest Lego game and how they wish it had an easier mode and how much certain recent modern games release offended them and they wish the game would get a universal patch to remove said content entirely. 

On the subject of the annual E3 conferences the ESA has said such content will not be included in the new VR game either as they believe that said conferences aren't the core feature or part of E3 and as such they wanted the game to give a more focused and refined experience for players.

E3 2020 The Experience VR will be released free for everyone to play in VR on June 3rd 2020 and is touted as having 50+ hours of "exciting innovative entertainment" for the bored gaming journalist or enthusiast alike.
